16/12/09 CALLED TO PROCLAIM HIS PRAISES 1 Peter 1-5
Scripture – 1 Peter 2:9-10 “9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”
Observation – Who we are in Christ and because of His sacrifice is a miracle. We have obtained mercy. We will not receive the judgement and condemnation we deserved. We have entered into a relationship with God and became an amazingly blessed people – God’s own special people.
One of our major purposes, which should be a normal response to all He has done, is to proclaim the praises of God – because of what He has done for us.
Application – I need to set my mind on the amazing work of Christ and our glorious inheritance. It is so good. As revelation comes we cannot help but praise God and live a life that brings glory to Him. 1 Pet 1:13 is great advice “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Especially when times are tough we need to take time and stop thinking about the problem and start proclaiming His praises because of the mercy we have obtained from Him.
Prayer – Lord I gird up loins of my mind and place my life in your grace that comes through revelation of Jesus Christ. Please reveal Your grace, Yourself, Your glory. I seek You with all my heart. Your face I seek. I wait for You. I look to You. I need You. I need You. I call out to You my God and my Saviour.
