4/12/09        Revelation of Him       Ephesians 1:17

 Scripture – Ephesians 1:17 “…that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give to you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.”

 Observation – Here and in other parts of Ephesians (3:8) Paul speaks about the indescribable, glorious, unsearchable, riches of Jesus Christ, that through the Spirit we can know. What was hidden and out of bounds is accessible and desiring to be known. We have an invitation to know the Lord!

The only way to know Him is by the Spirit of wisdom and through revelation He gives (very willingly) to those who desire it. The unfolding revelation of God is the greatest wow factor in the universe. Paul prays for this revelation to be known to the church. He knows that such revelation changes us as nothing else can.

 Application – This should be my prayer for myself and for those I care for.

 Prayer – Lord I pray earnestly that you will give me and all to whom I relate and oversee, a spirit of wisdom and revelation of Yourself. We have greatly minimised You; humanized You and miniaturized You and it has affected our faith and our power. Lord, reveal Yourself through Your word and through Your Spirit. Reveal Yourself to us, reveal Your love and power and the riches that are Yours. Perhaps then we will walk and live differently. Lord, I long to know You more intimately. I lean into You and ask for more revelation. More intimacy.
